Whakamahere Ki Te Wai – A Charting Of Our Freshwater Ways In Central Auckland

In this self-guided walking journey, honour the star Waitī by reconnecting with the freshwater ways of central Auckland.

A pukapuka or digital app will support whānau on their journey, and participants of all ages will connect with the wai of Tāmaki by charting their locations and learning stories through prompted activities.

Explore the history of waterways in the city via stops at central hub locations, and end your journey at Te Wharekura on the waterfront to learn from mana whenua.

When the activated journey has been completed (at any point during the Matariki period), whānau can collect a Matariki-themed prize!
