This stunning artwork depicts the meeting of tides through a modern Māori 'Puhoro' design. Shades of violet and teal represent day and night, light and dark, with water flowing continuously.
The colour gradients symbolise the diverse cultures of Tāmaki Makaurau. Artists Poi Ngawati and Angus Muir enhance the mural with light designs that reflect the relationship between 9 Matariki stars and the tides beneath them.
The piece connects stars, the ocean, and iwi. Ngā mihi to our Artists: Poi Ngawati aka Techs (Waikato Tainui, Ngati Patupo, Ngati Whawhaki, Ngati Mahuta, Ngapuhi, Ngati Hine) and Angus Muir.
