The Kotuku Quintet returns to the stage this year with a programme based on a Mozart piano concerto and drawing inspiration from the celebration of Matariki in a brand-new work.
The Piano Concerto No. 13 in C major K. 415 is one of three Mozart composed in Vienna in 1782–83. The concert also features the premiere of a work written by the quintet’s pianist, Louise Webster, to celebrate Matariki.
Frank Bridge’s characterful Phantasy for Piano Quartet in F sharp minor, written in 1910 and showing the influence of Brahms and Bridge’s love of French Romanticism, rounds out the programme.
