What started out as an experiment in creating electronic music evolved into an exploration and celebration of Matariki. The Helium Project brings together 10 talented musicians producing emotive, ambient soundscapes laden with synthesisers and strings. Special guest Ash Patea, an experienced educator of tikanga and te reo Māori, will weave the story of Matariki through the show as the band performs nine tracks, one related to each star.

Project creator Nick Edgar says, “Our aim is to create a sonic landscape that transports the audience into the stories behind the star cluster and truly celebrate Matariki.”
