Te Taumata Kapa Haka 2022 (Finished)
A feature of Matariki Festival 2022 is Kapa Haka in the Malls, with the best local kapa haka groups popping up across the region for lunchtime performances and free poi giveaways in celebration of Matariki.
In tradition, the very first kapa haka act was associated with the chief Tinirau when he instructed a group of women to perform for his enemy, Kae. Kapa haka has evolved over the centuries, and we continue to marvel at its power, beauty, and ability to share histories, kaupapa and te reo Māori.
