Sibling artist collaboration Yllwbro reflect on a formative learning experience that first introduced them to astronomy. As small children, Yllwbro were encouraged by their koro to “titiro ake!” or “look up!”, In this installation they remind us of the beauty of the night sky and the insight gained when consciousness is raised.

Yllwbro pursue the spirit of the new year south of the cluster known as Matariki, exploring Te Kāhui Takurua or star fields in Canis Major (Big Dog). Like Canis Minor (Little Dog), who laughed, they invite us to “titiro ake!” and see the stars for ourselves.
