MAP Projects – Making art public – Matariki edition
MAP Projects is an exciting new initiative by Auckland Council and Phantom Billstickers. The project reimagines the city as a gallery, making art public with posters all over Tāmaki Makaurau. To mark Matariki we’re showcasing the creative work of local wāhine Māori artists, Jessica Thompson Carr aka Māori Mermaid, Atarangi Anderson, Peata Larkin and Alexis Neal. The project connects with Matariki as a time for reflection and celebration, and our first public holiday that recognises the uniqueness of te ao Māori (the Māori world).
MAP Projects champions thought-provoking, culturally diverse, enjoyable art that reflects the character, people, places and stories of our city. Get ready to be delighted, challenged and inspired!
