Whakapapa / Algorithms 23

This exhibition is a collection of multimedia works by Jamie Berry. Reflecting on past, present and future, Berry uses algorithms and computer programming to connect spiritual and physical realms, ancestors and descendants as well as the natural world. Working within a digital context, the artist's work revolves around a set of unique soundscapes that have been generated through sequencing her DNA.

Awakening memories of and through sound, the soundscapes of genetic and spiritual ancestors create a direct connection to Berry's whakapapa (ancestry), with visual components that are driven and guided by the narrative of the audio.
