Vaka to a Billion Stars

Haere mai! Afio mai! Welcome! Come wrap yourself in the arms of more than 300,000 woven stars. This Matariki season, Vaka To A Billion Stars officially welcomes the One Billion Stars project to Aotearoa, by Samoan weaver Maryann Talia Pau. Be a part of this inspiring project by joining the free weave a star sessions. Your star will then board the vaka and paddle towards being part of the One Billion Stars project.

7 July – 11 July, 12pm-4pm: Weave a star workshop
14 July – 18 July, 12pm-4pm: Weave a star workshop

One Billion Stars is a global star weaving movement built on community resilience and healing. The woven stars are symbols of courage, hope and working together in solidarity to help end all forms of violence including bullying, racism, and in particular, violence against women.

Vaka To A Billion Stars is part of Matariki Festival 2021 and proudly brought to you by Auckland Council with support from Panuku Development Auckland.
