Waiata Taketake —  Indigenous Music

In what promises to be a memorable end to Matariki celebrations at Arataki Visitor Centre, these two exceptional artists will share their music surrounded by the majestic Waitākere Ranges.

Sherydon Ngaropo Te Tai (Te Rarawa, Ngāti Porou) is a rare talent and a protege of Maisey Rika and Tama Waipara. With a voice beyond her years, she casts a spell on listeners, drawing them into a world of yearning and nostalgia.

It would be fair to describe Ed Waaka (Te Rarawa, Te Aupouri, Ngāti Pahauwera) as a hidden gem in Aotearoa. He has a soul man’s voice and a poet’s soul. Within his songs are messages that are consciously direct and spiritually uplifting.
