2degrees Kapa
Haka Super 12s
Kapa Haka groups are invited to enter the 2degrees Kapa Haka Super 12s competition providing an opportunity to showcase their skills as part of Auckland's Matariki Festival and to be in to win $5000 cash or one of a number of other prizes. Registrations close on 3 June 2011.
- First prize $5,000, second prize $2,000 and third prize $500.

- Entries close 5:00pm on Friday 3 June 2011.
2degrees Kapa Haka Super 12s is supported by 2degrees and will be held on 18 June 2011 at the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, THE EDGE.

RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- Each team must contain no more than twelve people
- Performances must be no longer than twelve minutes. Ten marks will be deducted per every extra minute.
- Timekeeping will begin and stop when the first and last deliberate sound is heard from the team on stage.
- The performance bracket must contain a Waiata ā ringa, Haka and Poi.
- Performances must be totally in Te Reo Māori.
- Teams will be judged on originality, execution and entertainment 'wow' factor whilst maintaining a high standard of Te Reo Māori.
- In addition to prizes for the top three groups, prizes will also be awarded for Te Reo, Best Costume and overall originality.
- The team with the highest score wins, in the event of a tie, the judges will decide by majority who is the winning team.
- The three judges will have a background in Kapa Haka as Performers, Tutors and Composers and be fluent in Te Reo Māori.
- The Judge's decision on the night is final and no protests of any kind will be accepted after the event.
- Alcohol, illegal drugs, food and drink of any kind are prohibited on stage and teams will be disqualified if this rule is not adhered to.
- By entering, the council is granted exclusive permission to use entrants name, photograph and likeness in publicity material as required.
Auckland Council obligations:
- Auckland Council reserves the right to extend or discontinue the 2degrees super 12s offer at any stage, for any reason
- Auckland Council takes no responsibility for any inability to enter, complete or continue the competition due to equipment or technical malfunction, or other last of access, including inadvertent disconnection, acts of god or otherwise.
- To the fullest extent permitted by the law, Auckland Council will not be liable for any loss or damage, or for personal injury as a result of the competition entry or winning of competition prize.
