Manu Aute Kite Day supported by New Zealand Post Kids' Colouring Competition
Kite flying has a highly symbolic connection to Matariki, with kites seen as the connectors between the heavens and earth. Enter the competition to celebrate this year's Matariki, then come and fly a kite at the event!
- Entry is open to children 12 years and under.
- Prizes include a kite from Peter Lynn Kites, a book on the subject of Matariki and a stationary voucher.

Manu Aute Kite Day supported by New Zealand Post event will be held on 2 July 2011 (wet weather date 3 July 2011) at Orakei Marae/Takaparawhā Reserve, Kitemoana Street, Orakei - more details soon.

COMPETITION
Terms and Conditions of Entry
- The competition is being conducted by AUCKLAND COUNCIL. By entering into this competition, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
- Entry is open to children aged 0 to 12 years who reside in the AUCKLAND COUNCIL area.
- To enter, you need to print out ONE of the Manu Aute Kite Day supported by New Zealand Post entry forms at www.matarikifestival.org.nz, colour in the activity, complete your details on the form and drop off at: Artstation, 1 Ponsonby Road, Newton, Auckland or post your entry to: Matariki Festival, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92516, Wellesley Street, Auckland 1141.
- Immediate family members of AUCKLAND COUNCIL and NEW ZEALAND POST employees are eligible to enter.
- Only one entry is permitted per child.
- The competition opens at 10:00am on 02.07.11 and closes at 5:00pm on 24.06.11. Entries received outside these times, or that are not submitted in accordance with these Terms and Conditions will not be accepted. Only entries completed on the official entry form will be accepted.
- Judging will be completed on 30.06.11 at Auckland Council, 360 Queen Street, Auckland, by a panel formed by AUCKLAND COUNCIL including AUCKLAND COUNCIL employees and invitees from external organisations. Winners and 'highly commended' entries (together, "Prize Recipients") will be selected based on skill (in the judging panel's opinion) for their age group. Prizes will be presented at Manu Aute Kite Day supported by New Zealand Post on Saturday 2 July 2011 ("Prize Giving"). All Prize Recipients will be notified by telephone on the telephone number provided with the relevant entry form at least 24 hours before the Prize Giving. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- One winner will be selected from each age group and awarded prizes as
follows:
- 5 years and under: first prize - Baby Octopus kite from Peter Lynn kites, Matariki by Melanie Drewery and $30 worth of Westfield vouchers; second prize - Matariki by Melanie Drewery and $20 worth of Westfield vouchers; third prize - Matariki by Melanie Drewery.
- 6 to 8 years: first prize - Koru Delta kite from Peter Lynn kites, Matariki by Melanie Drewery and $30 worth of Westfield vouchers; second prize - Matariki by Melanie Drewery and $20 worth of Westfield vouchers; third prize - Matariki by Melanie Drewery.
- 9 to 12 years: first prize - Vibe Power Kite from Peter Lynn Kites, Matariki: The Māori New Year by Libby Hakaraia and $30 worth of Westfield vouchers; second prize -Matariki: The Māori New Year by Libby Hakaraia and $20 worth of Westfield vouchers; third prize, Matariki: The Māori New Year by Libby Hakaraia.
- The total number of prize winners is nine (9). In the event that any prize becomes unavailable for any reason beyond AUCKLAND COUNCIL's reasonable control, AUCKLAND COUNCIL may substitute another prize of equal or greater value.
- Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
- In the event that AUCKLAND COUNCIL is unable to contact a Prize Recipient after making reasonable attempts to do so, that person will forfeit the applicable prize and the judging panel will select a new entrant in the relevant age group who will be deemed the Prize Recipient and notified by telephone as set out in clause 7.
- AUCKLAND COUNCIL is not responsible for entries that are late, misdirected, lost, incorrectly completed, or if a Prize Recipient cannot be contacted for any reason. If this competition is not capable of running as planned for reasons beyond the reasonable control of AUCKLAND COUNCIL, AUCKLAND COUNCIL reserves the right to cancel the competition.
- Subject to any applicable law that cannot be excluded, AUCKLAND COUNCIL, its employees and agents will not be liable for any loss or damage or injury by or to any person whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss or loss arising from negligence) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with this competition or with the prizes.
- AUCKLAND COUNCIL reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without notice.
- By entering this competition, you agree that AUCKLAND COUNCIL cannot guarantee that your entry will be judged the winner, or that you will be awarded a prize. You also agree that AUCKLAND COUNCIL has not made any representations as to the quality or fitness for purpose of the prizes.
- Personal information captured during this competition will be used by AUCKLAND COUNCIL for the purpose of administering this competition and contacting the prize winners. To request correction or deletion of your personal information, please contact AUCKLAND COUNCIL on (09) 301 0101.
- Prize recipients must make themselves available for photographs and interviews, which will be used for promotional purposes by AUCKLAND COUNCIL. All copyright in such photographs and interviews will vest in AUCKLAND COUNCIL. Prize recipients' entry forms may also be photographed or copied and used by AUCKLAND COUNCIL for promotional purposes without compensation.
