Matariki Dawn Karakia
Herald the Māori New Year at Arataki Visitor Centre, hosted by Te Kawerau a Maki. Commemorate those who have passed, acknowledge those who remain and bless the new year with karanga, the sounds of ancient karakia, waiata and a haka composed specifically to mark this special occasion.

Following the blessing there will be a light breakfast, entertainment and the opportunity to learn more about Te Kawerau a Maki history and stories.
Arataki Visitor Centre is situated in the heart of Te Waonui a Tiriwa, more commonly known as Waitākere Ranges, and sits within the tribal boundaries of Te Kawerau a Maki.
Dress warmly.
Members of the public are welcome to learn the mass haka and are invited to attend the following practice sessions at Arataki Visitor Centre:
Sat 9 June, 10am – 4pm
Thu 21 June, 4pm – 6pm
Thu 28 June, 4pm – 6pm
