Photographer Dave Bull has photographed the ancestral pou located throughout Te Waonui a Tiriwa (the great forest of Tiriwa), also known as Waitākere Ranges. Shot at night and illuminated by light boxes, the photos give dramatic exposure to these pouwhenua. Not only do the ancestors emerge out of the darkness of the forest, so too will their stories emerge out of the darkness of time.
