Manu Aute Kite Day
Manu Aute Kite Day celebrates the universal tradition of kite flying across Tāmaki Makaurau with three events in Ōrākei, Puketāpapa (Mt Roskill) and Manurewa. Watch the sky fill with kites of all shapes and sizes symbolically connecting heaven and earth. There are plenty of opportunities for kite flyers of all ages to send their messages to the heavens.
The day will include a pōwhiri at 9am followed by tea and coffee. The first kites will be launched at 10am. There will be activities including weaving and kite making as well as kai stalls and a hangi. Te Wānanga o Aotearo and AMI will be giving away spot prizes, and Mai FM's DJ will be on site at 11am.
Join us for this uplifting day for the whole whānau, which has become a popular event in the Matariki Festival calendar. Supported by Manurewa, Ōrākei and Puketāpapa local boards.
